J.B. Kropp is recognized as a leader in interactive marketing and consumer generated media. Prior to joining Twitter in Strategic Partnerships, J.B. was an executive with Vitrue, a social media management company used by some of the top brands today. In addition, J.B. was with ShareThis, the company known for the social-sharing tool that now reaches more than 400 million users across 500,000 sites on the web. During his more than two years at ShareThis, J.B. led the product strategy and distribution efforts helping pave the wave for the company’s notable growth and success. In addition, J.B. was a co-founder of one of the first online video sharing communities, Sharkle.com, which was acquired by Vitrue. J.B. was a founding member of Flycast Network, Web Visible, Cucina.com, SmartyTags.com and an online video sports recruiting company, Go Big Recruiting. A native Cincinnatian, J.B. spends much of his free time helping to promote and assist local start-up businesses. Larry Lieberman - Dynamite Labs, Co-Founder and COO

Allen Mason - Allen Mason Consulting, Principal

Allen is VP Strategy at dunnhumbyUSA where he oversees development of new marketing communication and media solutions. He’s been the driver behind using retailer purchase data to target and personalize media and loyalty communications as a way to transform brand marketing and has been an active thought leader on the topic. Prior to joining dunnhumby, Allen spent 15 years at Procter & Gamble as one of the pioneers of digital marketing launching and leading programs across iconic brands including Gillette, Pantene, Swiffer and the P&G Pharmaceutical business. He gained startup experience as a founding member of a word-of-mouth marketing solution as part of a pilot to launch new businesses for spin-off from P&G. Allen also held key brand management roles in P&G’s Homecare and Male Grooming businesses where he served on a special corporate task force to define the strategy for winning with male consumers, resulting in several acquisitions and new go-to-market strategies for the company. Allen serves on the advisory board for Total Beauty Media and received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

Drew is the Director of Client Strategy for Brandery graduate Ahalogy. Prior to his move into the startup world, Drew was Sr. Manager of Digital Media. He led digital media strategy for all of Luxottica’s retail brands in North America, including LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Pearle Vision, Target Optical and Sears Optical. Before joining Luxottica, Drew spent 8 years on the agency-side in the areas of digital strategy, media, and account management. Serving clients such as U.S. Bank, Michaels Arts & Crafts, P&G, and LexisNexis.
Outside of The Brandery, Drew is an advisor for Cincinnati-based LISNR, a startup focused on potential of audio discovery.

Glenn J. Platt - Miami University, Interactive Media & Marketing

Glenn is the C. Michael Armstrong Chair in Interactive Media, Professor of Marketing and has been Director of the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies since 2000. Glenn is also President Emeritus of the International Digital Media & Arts Association. Glenn, along with his colleague Prof. Lage, coined the phrase “inverted classroom” with a 2000 seminal work outlining the benefits of using technology to move active learning into the classroom and lecture outside of class. He also founded and leads the AIMS Digital Innovation Center in San Francisco. He has won the School of Business Teaching Effectiveness Award, the Associated Student Government Effective Educator Award, and the University’s Knox Award for Teaching.
Glenn Platt received his Bachelor of Arts from University of Florida and his MS and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University. Besides directing AIMS, Glenn teaches the Social Media Marketing, Digital Branding, Internet Marketing (MBA), and the IMS/AI capstone consulting course. He consults in areas of Social Media and Internet Marketing.

Jim Price - The Empower Group, President & CEO

Jim Price, The Empower Group CEO and President of Empower MediaMarketing. At Empower, Jim built a Media Innovation team from scratch, when the Internet was still considered an emerging advertising medium and established a full array of best in class services including Digital Strategy, Digital Media, Web Development, Digital Creative, SEM/SEO, Mobile, Word of Mouth Marketing and Social Media.

Jim was promoted to President of the agency in December 2009 and CEO in December of 2010.

Since 2009 the company has grown 22% during a recession and added to its offerings to include a full array of marketing services. Jim’s twelve year career at Empower has been spent leading the agency as media continues to diversify across channels all while creating an agency that is built for the future. Empower MediaMarketing works with a variety of clients including Bush Brothers, US Bank, Meijer, LCA-Vision and Hoover Vacuums focusing on leading them in their strategic marketing communications, decision sciences and media planning and buying efforts.

In early 2012, through two acquisitions, Jim engineered the start of the Empower Group to include the aforementioned Empower MediaMarketing and the strategic creative group Powerhouse Factories. Jim had the foresight to see the agency trends across paid, owned and earned media and successfully engineered a new model for a 28 year-old independent agency allowing it to do what it does best while adding the services of earned media, data analytics and creative design in Powerhouse Factories.

All together the Empower Group has 190 employees and more than $250 million in billings.

Jim previously held roles with ABC Radio, Beyond Interactive and Bush-Cheney ’04. In 2011 Price was chosen by Ad Age as a Media Maven and in 2010 he was named a “40 Under 40” award recipient by The Cincinnati Business Courier. He is also most proud of Empower’s designation by Ad Age in 2010 as a top place to work in marketing and advertising. He frequently speaks on his expertise in the business, Digital media, at industry-leading conferences such as AdTech and iMedia. Price is also an instrument-rated pilot and very active in the community, mentoring with the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and serving as President of the board for the Starfire Council.

Walter Solomon - Ashland, VP & Chief Growth Officer

Walter Solomon has learned a lot about growing businesses through 30 years in both Fortune 500 and Inc. 500 business environments. He currently serves as VP/Chief Growth Officer for Ashland Inc, where he and his team architected Ashland’s transformation from an 87 year old Kentucky oil refiner into an $8 billion global specialty chemicals company. Walter spent the first decade of his career in brand management with Procter & Gamble, ultimately as a Marketing Director in P&G’s hair care and juice drink businesses. As brand manager, he led Pantene’s initial growth, from a $4 million boutique business into a $100 million brand, en route to becoming one of P&G’s billion dollar global brands. He spent the next decade leading multiple start-ups in health care and software, including an Inc. 500 Company, and another sold to a publicly-held competitor. Walter served as the first President of Over-the-Rhine technology incubator Main Street Ventures, and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of BBYO, Inc., which trains over 30,000 Jewish teens globally in leadership, social action and community service.
