Brandery Heads to SXSW

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard at least one person mention South by SouthwestSXSW is an annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas.  Every year, thousands of people head to SXSW in hopes of “Keeping Austin Weird.”

According to their website, “The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences & Festivals (March 8-17, 2013) offer the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery.”

Although we love great music and inspiring films, we here at the Brandery are most interested in the interactive session at SXSW.  It is here that companies, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs from around the country reveal emerging technologies and share ideas with as many peers as possible.

This year, Brandery graduates including REPP, Modulus, Learnmetrics, and ChoreMonster, are attending the conference.  They have had the opportunity to network, share their concepts, and market their businesses to investors, consumers, fellow entrepreneurs.

Follow @myREPP, @OnModulus, @Learnmetrics, and @ChoreMonster for updates and insights from this year’s SXSW!

Event Recap: Intro to SEO

On Monday, March 4, The Brandery welcomed Tim Warren, CEO of The Warren Company and SEO Exposed, to provide us with an Intro to SEO.  His company’s mission is to “empower business owners to take control of their website and Google Rankings through education, knowledge, inspiration, and teamwork.”

Tim explained that SEO is really quite simple.  Search Engine Optimization is a tool, not unlike other forms of analytics, that can be used in a variety of ways.  All you need is a basic understanding and the willingness to build your brand.

He explained to our audience of creatives, entrepreneurs, and small business owners that SEO is “important because of lost opportunities.  You’ll never know growth potential without accessing online consumers.”  It can take as few as three or four hours to update your meta tags, keywords, and URL and, according to Tim, those three to four hours can translate into new clients, higher profit margins, and increased brand awareness.  He also suggests that you think outside of the box with SEO!  Develop creative ways to link your site to industry leaders and create strategic backlinks.

According to Google, the top search result on the page receives 42 percent of all online traffic.  That’s right, 42 percent!  That being said, there are absolutely rewards and advantages associated with building a strong search presence.

If you are interested in learning more about SEO and how to profit from it, we recommend you read through the live Twitter feed created during the event.  If that doesn’t give you enough of an explanation, contact Tim Warren at SEO Exposed.  His company offers a variety of different training courses and classes to help you understand SEO.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Brandery events!

OFFF Returns to Cincinnati

World-famous creative conference, OFFF, will return to Cincinnati on March 6 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts.  The event, first held in Cincinnati in 2011, was founded in Barcelona and is recognized as being an innovative, informative, and inspiring design conference.

OFFF garnered such a positive response from attendees in 2011 that the organizers have, once again, named Cincinnati as the conference’s exclusive U.S. location.  The event will include presentations from James Paterson, Onur Senturk, James Victore, Sara Blake, Jon Burgerman, Brendan Dawes, Ramon Escolá and Multitouch Barcelona.  James Victore is best known for his animation visual effects work on movies, such as Dark Knight Rises and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

OFFF is a mecca for creative professionals, including designers, innovators, creative thinkers, and entrepreneurs.  The conference exposes them, not only to high-quality curated content, but also to a network of peers, mentors, and potential business partners.

OFFF Cincy

The conference was held at the Contemporary Arts Center in 2011, but is being moved to the Aronoff Center to allow for more participants.  This year’s conference will be available to approximately 400 attendees.
